2003 Poland - Drama


Leaving occupied Varsovia in 1943, two intellectuals, Frederic and Witold, take refuge in the country mansion of an old friend, Hippolyte. The house?s girl, Henia (15 years old), is promised to an attorney from a close town, Waclaw (30 years old). However, in the estate, lives a childhood friend of Henia, Karol, who works at the farm Frederic and Witold decide to break the arranged wedding, and to get the two youngsters together. John Updike described Gombrowicz?s book, from which the film is adapted, as being the ?Dangerous Liaisons? of the twentieth century.
